“Since the day it was released, the iPhone has created a micro-economy by enabling developers large and small to reach consumers directly by selling apps and ads against their offerings. Apple just expanded that economy considerably by allowing developers to add direct in-app purchasing to free apps - enabling them to sell content, subscriptions and digital services directly on the platform. (Until now the option was only available to paid apps, which has hampered the popularity of applications trying to charge for additional content.) The move should be a boon for the purchase of virtual goods such as weapons for gamers or dresses for dress-up apps; games account for more than 20% of the 85,000+ apps available on the platform. ‘This announcement changes the landscape of the App Store as we know it,’ said Colin Smith, co-founder and vice president of Freeverse.”

The Crosby Street Hotel @ Crosby/Spring opened this month from the folks behind a slew of dope London hotels such as the Charlotte Street Hotel where I spent a many days when I lived there. And, bonus…they have a screening room for 90 people. There’s not a lot of chic spots for intimate movie screenings in NYC. This is a great additional option for event planners.

My New Fav Hotel Opens The Doors To Their Restaurant
I’ve got a soft spot for the Ace Hotel on 29th & Broadway. Why?
- Stumpton coffee & the best latte of your damn life.
- Genuine & friendly staff.
- Comforting yet cool decor.
- The spot is starting to change the ‘hood back to its golden era.
- And, the latest addition to my list of reasons…the opening of the Breslin this weekend. From the folks of The Spotted Pig, I doubt their grub will fail to bring a smile to my face. Can’t wait to try it out.
The Meyer clan in Port Jefferson this past weekend for our cousin’s wedding. Another great weekend getaway from NYC. We stayed at the Dansford Marina and the reception took place at Old Field Club. Both wonderful venues to keep in mind if you are planning a wedding or weekend getaway from NYC.
