Gold Diggers Unite @ "Fashion Meets Finance" ... Kidding!
On one of my first dates with an ex-boyfriend, he asked me, “Do you consider yourself a gold digger?” I thought to myself, “Are you kidding? We are walking into the hockey game that I BOUGHT YOU tickets for as a gift.” He really thought I was. Even after over two years of dating (and, standing by his side when he thought he was going to lose his newly-found fortune) and during the time of our break-up, he brought it up again - he feared I was a gold digger.
But, he’s wrong. He equates liking money and successful men to being a gold digger. I admit, I want to be with a man that has similar interests and passions to mine including (but of course, not limited to) a desire to make a nice nest and the determination to be successful. I want to take care of a man in every way - emotionally, physically, financially, etc. And, I want him to reciprocate.
Where am I going with this tangent? O, once single, my friend Cyndi suggested I join this networking/dating group “Fashion Meets Finance.” What do you know…The Post wrote about it today. As one girl is quoted in saying, “Even if they’re not going to admit it, deep down inside, of course, every girl [is looking for] a guy who’s going to make their lives easier or pleasurable in the sense they have money to provide.” My point is made. BTW, according to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, a gold digger is ”a person who uses charm to extract money or gifts from others.” And, my picture is not beside the definition!
I should also note (so it doesn’t seem like I am bashing my ex) I adore him for other infinite ways - we just disagree on this topic.
